Northward Compliance & Risk Services

Legal

Not regulated advice

What Northward's tools do, and what they explicitly do not do.

Northward's assessment and screening tools are instruments. They do not provide legal, regulatory or investment advice, and they do not make compliance decisions for you. The responsibility for a decision remains with the regulated business making it.

Northward does not represent FINTRAC or any other regulator, holds no approval or accreditation to give regulatory advice or to enforce regulation on their behalf, and holds no CAMLO or MLRO appointments.

The Regulatory Risk & Compliance Agent

The agent answers from a fixed set of published regulatory sources, and gives you the citation for every statement it makes. It can still be wrong. It can miss a provision, misread one, or answer a narrower question than the one you asked.

Check the source it cites before you rely on anything it says. That is why every answer carries one. It is a research aid, not a determination, and nothing it returns obliges you to act one way or the other.

Your questions are not used to train any AI model, ours or anyone else's. What happens to them is set out in our privacy policy.

Scope of what we screen

  • Sanctions: the eight lists named on the Screening page. We do not imply lists we do not load.
  • Crypto wallet addresses: the sanctioned digital-currency addresses published by the United States, the United Kingdom and the European Union, which is a narrower set of authorities than the eight above. A clean result means the address is not on those lists today. It is not a statement about the counterparty, about the address’s history, or about tomorrow. An optional add-on, not part of the free check.
  • Email addresses: the sanctioned addresses published by the United States, the United Kingdom, the European Union and the United Nations, plus sanctioned organisation domains. We also surface a sanctioned person’s name appearing inside an address, which is a reason to look and not a finding: the address may never have been listed and may belong to someone else. A clean result means the address, its domain and the name in it are not on those lists today. It is not a statement about the person behind the address. An optional add-on, off by default, not part of the free check.
  • PEP: an advisory check sourced from public datasets, not a licensed commercial global PEP database. It is not comprehensive.
  • Adverse media: a signal drawn from open news sources, not an exhaustive or licensed media feed.
